Among the 1,280 people infected, 156 people are admitted to hospitals and there are even 35 admissions recorded in intensive care units, nine more than on Thursday. On Friday, there was no change in the number of patients recovered, now at five the number of cases that have stopped testing positive for the new coronavirus.
DGS is also reporting 9,854 suspected cases of Covid-19 infection, with 1,059 people currently awaiting laboratory test results. 13,155 contacts are monitored by health authorities. The North remains the region with the highest number of people infected with the new coronavirus, with a record of 644 cases, followed by the region of Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (448 cases), the Center (137 cases) and the Algarve (31 cases).
The Madeira region has five infected people; The Azores and Alentejo have three cases each. In the northern and central regions, four of the people infected with this outbreak have already died; in Lisbon and the Tagus Valley, three deaths have been recorded.
In the Algarve, one person died from Covid-19. The greatest number of infected people is in the age group between 40 and 49 years. Friday was the first day that Portugal was in a state of emergency, limiting travel to the bare minimum and ordering the closure of non-essential services.
