There are 13 referral hospitals for patients infected with covid-19: Braga, Santo António, São João and Pedro Hispano in the North Regional Health Zone (ARS); Coimbra, Coimbra - Paediatrics and care at ARS Centro; Santa Maria, Curry Cabral and Dona Estefânia in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley ARS; Faro to ARS Algarve; Dr. Nélio Mendonça in the autonomous region of Madeira; and Santo Espírito - Terceira Island in the autonomous region of the Azores.
Residents of the municipalities of Felgueiras and Lousada, in the district of Porto, were asked to avoid unnecessary travel. In view of the increase in the number of cases, the Portuguese Government has ordered the temporary suspension of visits to hospitals, homes and prisons in the North, which has so far been most affected.
Educational establishments, particularly in the north of Portugal, have been closed, as have gymnasiums, libraries, swimming pools and cinemas.
