Aircraft engine explodes just before takeoff at Lisbon airport : no injuries
Do you know the nickname of the TAP? "Take Another Plane". This is surely what the passengers of the Lisbon - Venice flight now say. Indeed, one of the engines of the TAP Airbus A320, which would connect the Portuguese capital to Venice, exploded on Wednesday afternoon just before takeoff on one of the runways at Humberto Delgado airport. TAP confirmed that the aircraft had suffered a "technical engine failure" and that the take-off "was immediately interrupted". Lisbob, the expatriate assistant in Portugal, tells you everything about this incident that will not improve the reputation of Lisbon airport.
An explosion a few seconds before takeoff
The plane, an Airbus A320, had already made several trips today between Lisbon and Faro, having started the day towards Lajes towards the capital. While he was about to leave for Venice, the left engine exploded following a motor failure.
The images on the Aviation TV website show that the aircraft was immobilized until emergency vehicles arrived at Humberto Delgado Airport. Fortunately, no injuries are regrettable.
No injuries to report, a big fright as a bonus
The airline also stated that "there was no consequence for the passengers on board who will be traveling on another flight of the airline". The flight was scheduled at 3:25 pm, according to information from the website ANA - Aeroportos de Portugal, but should now leave at 19:15.
The nights will be very hot in Lisbon and in the Tagus Valley, never falling below 20 degrees with relatively low humidity, especially on the coast, which is not usual. Strong winds are also expected, especially in the mountainous regions and in the center and north of the country.
TAP did not provide additional information, namely the number of passengers in the aircraft. The flight information on the FlightRadar website shows that the flight never left the area of Lisbon Airport. The landing of another plane was temporarily interrupted.
