Orange weather alert for 7 regions of Portugal for wind, rain and rough sea

Autumn is very present in Portugal and it will be necessary to pay attention during the next days. Indeed, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA), seven districts of mainland Portugal will be on orange alert this Tuesday because of the difficult weather conditions that will run until Wednesday. What is the weather forecast for the next days in Portugal ? Which regions are affected by this orange alert ? Orange alert for 7 regions of Portugal for wind, rain and rough sea

Seven regions under yellow alert, then orange

 

7 districts of Portugal will be under yellow alert today. The districts of Viana do Castelo, Braga, Porto, Aveiro, Coimbra, Leiria and Lisbon will indeed be under weather alert due to strong rough sea. Waves of 4 to 5 meters are planned between 15h this Tuesday and 18h ​​Wednesday.

These districts will then go on orange alert (the second most serious) between 6 am Thursday and 3 am Friday because of a worsening of the situation. Waves of 5 to 7 meters are expected, with maximum waves of up to 14 meters !

The IPMA has also issued a yellow alert because of the rough sea for the districts of Setúbal, Beja and Faro between Thursday at 09:00 and Friday 03:00.

The districts of Viana do Castelo, Braga, Vila Real, Porto, Aveiro, Viseu, Coimbra, Guarda and Castelo Branco will also be under yellow alert but this time due to strong winds, with strong gusts of up to 100 km / h in the highlands between 21h on Tuesday and 18h ​​Wednesday.

This weather alert will continue on Thursday and Friday, and will extend to other districts (Santarém, Leiria, Lisbon).

IPMA has also issued a yellow alert for the districts of Porto, Viana do Castelo and Braga due to rain forecasts between 6 pm on Tuesday and 3 am on Wednesday.

The orange alert, the third worst on a scale of four, applies to moderate to high risk weather situations, while the yellow alert translates into risky situations for certain weather-dependent activities. It is therefore advisable to pay attention if you decided to practice outdoor activities.
