The number of confirmed cases of people infected with coronavirus in Portugal has increased further. The Portuguese Directorate General for Health released these figures this morning, with a total of 245 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Portugal. 103 are in the northern region, 116 in the Lisbon region, 10 in the central region and 10 in the Algarve. The Azores record their first case. Only two patients have so far fully recovered from the coronavirus. In the past 24 years, there have been 76 new cases of new coronavirus in Portugal. There are a total of 245 cases, nine of which are hospitalized. There are still 2,271 suspected cases, of which 281 are awaiting laboratory results.

The new report from the Portuguese General Directorate of Health also reveals that 4,592 people are under surveillance. There are currently 14 active transmission chains. The report only talks about two cases that have been recovered so far.

To date, the number of cases is higher in the Lisbon area and Vale do Tejo (116), followed by the North area, with 103 confirmed cases. There are still ten confirmed cases in the Center region and ten others in the Algarve.

The Azores have recorded, in the last hours, the appearance of a first case in the autonomous region on the island of Terceira. The autonomous regions of Madeira and the Azores impose a quarantine on all new arrivals: they remain without confirmed cases of infection. Five Portuguese abroad have tested positive for the new coronavirus. Another highlight is the existence of two cases recovered on the national territory.

This Sunday, Prime Minister António Costa will meet the President of the Spanish Government through Pedro Sanchez via teleconference to talk about the management of the common border of the two countries, but also to prepare for the meeting on Monday between the Ministers of the Interior and of Health of the European Union, which will aim to define health control measures at the borders of the Community.

Since Saturday's countdown at 5 p.m., there have been 32 new deaths and 2,839 new cases worldwide. China (excluding the territories of Hong Kong and Macao), where the epidemic broke out at the end of December, recorded a total of 80,844 cases, of which 3,199 died and 66,911 were recovered. In China, 20 new cases and 10 new deaths have been announced between Saturday and today.

In other parts of the world, there were 2,597 deaths (22 new) at 9:00 a.m. today, in a total of 73,780 cases, 2,819 more than at 5:00 p.m. Saturday. The most affected countries after China are Italy with 1,441 deaths and 21,157 cases, Iran with 611 deaths (12,729 cases), Spain with 183 deaths (5,753 cases) and France with 91 deaths (4,499 cases) .
